Winners of this generation of gaming are…
The real winners would have to be overwhelmingly us the consumers. In the home console market we have 3 very viable good systems, competitively priced. The mobile market is every growing and there are all kinds of gaming systems again with competitive prices. So not only do we have lots of choices we have lots of new and exciting things to look forward to.
Ok so maybe that’s a little to wishy-washy but over all it is the truth. Think about it last gen, and every other, over all everything was the same, this gen, the Wii has its remote, the Xbox has its online system and the PS3 has Blue-ray (yeah I am using that as a good thing so sue me.) Everyone this time around has there own thing to offer. So maybe the PS3 has motion sensing just like the Wii, but the PS3’s motion sensing is gimmicky, and yes they all three have online features but lets be honest, Xbox Live does it right, not that the others don’t do online well, gaming wise its Xbox Live all the way.
In the hand help “mobile” market you not only have the DS and the PSP but you have all the phones, and its only a matter of time before there is an Xbox Mobile and an iPOD Gamer’s Edition. When the DS came out I thought it was gimmicky but once enough time went on and the DS Lite came out I was proved wrong, though that was a true case of early adopters get burned. Now the PSP I liked from the get-go its still nicer on the hands then the DS if your going to play longer then 30 minutes.
Anyway the real winners are the consumers.
